Influence Map

--MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
this band have to be my favourite band ive listened to.
the lyrics are warped and they sing about things that most 'pop bands' dont and wouldnt dare to.
having the different view on things not usually discussed gives me more of an open broad mind.
very many of these lyrics they create i have previously painted and drawn pictures for.
the way this band words their songs it makes them have a double meaning, so im always thinking of what the certain song means thats playing.
not just the obvious meaning, but the underlying message the bands trying to get across.
for people who listen to this band, theyre usually assumed 'emo' because the songs are deeper than pop/ rock bands nowadays.
having the raw music playing always makes me feel awake and ready, i can connect to it no matter what my mood.

--MARCUS HARVEY
this man is a painter, who paints women in a differnt way than most.
his paintings arnt elagent or flattering, theyre just raw unperfected images of how he percieves women.
for example, one painting he has created was of a woman peeing in the sink.
the style in which he paints also grbas my attention.
its messy with paint all over the place, he tends to make the general shapes with the movement of the paint.
he then makes a thin outline of the actual image he was creating, so you sometimes have to really search for the image.
most people look really hard and when they realise what the painting is, they are disgusted.
i like painters who can make people have this reaction by painting such a simple thing.

--SALAD FINGERS
an online video which most people know.
the man 'salad fingers' is a creepy weirdo who enjoys pain and has imaginary friends.
yet again, i like how creppy it is for people to watch.
his simple movements, sound and layout of the whole thing.
the storys are simple, but very creepy

--TRAP DOOR
i watched this program as a child and loved it.
its set in a haunted castle on the top of a hill, it usually always rains and thunders.
theres a master upstairs and a slave who fetches him whatever he wishes.
theres a trapdoor in the middle of the kitchen door that is forbiden, but we all know that whatever is forbidden we must use.
so this is basically what happens during this show, 'Bert' the slave opens the trap door and 'bad things' happen.
not too scary as its a kids show, but giant spiders, and squid tenticals bursting open the trap door and destroying things.
this was a playdough kind of show, i used to always try and make the charactors and new scary aliens with my own.

--POKEMON
the classic. everyone knows what/ who pikachu is.
its a famous design which has sold loads of merch and is still making money.
creatng new pokemon and creating new quests, its moved onto another generation of pokemon players.
the simple design and colourings make them easy to identify.
when designing any type of logo or character, id always aim for it to be as well known as pikachu is with pokemon.

--POCAHONTAS
my favourite disney movie descerning right from wrong, good from evil.
disney movies are well known for gettin across that 'underlaying message' to their audience
pocahontas is more about race and peace between nations, and of course love.
the wind in scence of this movie really grab my attention
turning wind, and invisible force, into something recognisable and symbolic to the movie at the same time
i enjoy how there is a side entertainment with the posh dog and rackoon.
even on this level they learnt to love each other despite their differences.
so to sumerise, pocahontas for getting across the true message of right and wrong, and doing it clearly.

--THE DARK CRYSTAL
a puppet movie, also about good rivalling evil. but in a more blunt way than disney.
the obvious visuals of scary looking birds fighting each other as evil compaired to those of the gentle beasts that roam slowly and almost hippy-like.

Communication Thoughts

Sharing a flat with a german man, french man and french girl i had to find a way to communicate when they did not know the words for things and when we didn't understand each other. We used my old english jotter as a 'Doodle Book' drawing down things and writing explanations in.

I've photograped pages of the jotter that have helped to inspire me on this project.

Me and my flatmates were trying to figure out some maths. Using charts and functions.

I was teaching my flatmates some scottish words while they will be living here. Wee = Little = Small and Chebs = Boobs. Explaining things like this helped them to understand the words i was using and also improve their vocab. Communicating in this simple form made it so much easier for them to understand me.

Communication when the person is not there. Getting a message across so somebody else doesn't worry.

And even the things id find so simple i had to explain. Things like what shapes were, circle, square, triangle. So it wasn't always words we'd have to communicate with, shapes played a big part in it too. For example, not knowing a word and describing it by its shape - knowing what the shapes are called is a big help.

This jotter really has lived up to its name and its allocated function. The final page shows doodles and explanations from every person living in my flat. Its been a successful idea that has really inspired me with quite a few of my communication ideas.

I'm pleased :) .

Chaos Picture

For this 'Chaos' image i went down the route of chaotic movement within a drawing and painting.
I drew each image seperate, the 1st being a pen drawing and the second was a finger painting. After creating the two seperatly i noticed that they looked similar so decided to photoshop the two together to see what i came up with. Joining two chaotic images to make one greater chaotic one.
The bottom image is the finished artical.
I'm not too sure if i like it or not, but it gets across what i was trying to do.

Communication Drawing

This drawing was my idea for controlling the amount people should communicate. Giving away too much information about yourself can be dangerous.

Choas Painting

"Like A Bullet Through A Flock Of Doves"

My Chemical Romance
-
You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison

Shooting a bullet through a flock of doves causes them to scatter and panic, causing chaos in the flock. So by using the lyric with symbolices this i produced this painting.

Chaos Inspiration

DevilDriver @ Download 2007 - Huge Pit

This is inspiration for my 'Chaos'. Showing how much chaos can be had in an organised event designed for chaos like this to take place. A very good example of the 'organised chaos' i was thinking of when thinking up ideas.

Fall Painting

"I Lost My Fear Of Falling, I Will Be With You"

My Chemical Romance
-
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish

---

A person jumping off a building at night.
Painted with ink and smudged with chalks to create the street lights.
Still to be edited on photoshop.

Fall Inspiration

My Chemical Romance - It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwith

Fall Inspiration

Lemmings Game
For the 'Fall' word of the week one of my ideas was lemmings jumping off a cliff one after another.
This link takes you to the game.

Curiosity Drawing

This is a drawing i have produced for the word of the week 'Curiosity'. Its a draft of what the final will be like.

My final idea: A guy and girl jumping over a barbed wire fence at night, in the wind and rain. In the background there will be a demolition zone. An old building falling apart with the moon shining upon it. It will show the pairs curiosity for such a building. How they do it in the dead of night so as to avoid the hastle of authority.

Curiosity Inspiration

Abandoned Mental Asylum
Hellingly - Abandoned Mental Asylum

After coming across this page on the internet, i was looking at the photos and thinking "thats just, the complete perfect place to go exploring!"
I scrolled down and read the 1st line that was written. It seemed to fit perfectly.
Reading about the history of the place and connecting it with the photographs made me think about what my reactions would have been if i had experianced it for myself.
How would it have affected me?
"If the walls could talk within Hellingly, could you imagine the tales you might hear?"

Realising how much this intrested me ive expanded my search through some more of the Abandoned Mental Asylums and their stories.
Expanding my imagination with it.

Curiosity Inspiration

Lost Prophets - Everyday Combat

To me, this song is about living dangerously.
Getting into fights, doing things you shouldn't.
About living it up and not caring about authority. "Dancing in the DMZ".
The way i'd imagine a music video for this song would be dark alleys, fire, fighting, grafetti etc.

The link i made for this as inspiration for my 'Curiosity' was going down the road of rule breaking to find out what's beyond the boundries.
"Walk on, streets on fire. Caged in with razor wire. Shot down, living in the DMZ."
